Game 1

1st United Connecticut Kickers started the season off on a great note. We got our Azalea shirts and quite honestly, they are more spectacular than we had anticipated. There was a kickball game, and using the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, 1UCK was victorious by unanimous decision with all 3 judges scoring the fight 47-45. Jen "Double D" Albert claims this week’s field MVP for springing to action after a late night/early morning at the casino to kick in 2 runs and score another one while fighting off a viscous hangover. Rookie of the Week honors go out to Christina Wolf “no nickname needed, her last name is badass on it's own” for being responsible for 6.9 of the 15 defensive outs recorded by 1UCK. Please note that number is completely made up.

At the bar great things happened; 1UCK started off the bar with team Car Bombs, followed promptly by sitting down with future opponents to talk about "you know, stuff". Somehow teammates got involved in what appeared to be too much flip cup for 1 outdoor section of the bar to contain. Our Sunday pretty much rocked through and through. On the way out of the bar I ran into a good friend. At first he was "Dude, Bros don't wear Pink" I simply stated "Dude, It's not Pink, It's Azalea" to which he responded "Alright cool, listen Bro, I gotta run got a thing with this chick, but good luck with the whole kickball thing". Sunday was Legen - wait for it - dary.

Opening Day!

That's right folks, we're less than 10 days away from opening day for CT-Ivy which means that 1st United Connecticut Kickers WAKA debut is right around the corner. 1UCK will start the division off with a 2:30 match against Balls Deep. Neither team appears to be a stranger to the fundamentals of good kickball, and this match up has game of the week written all over it.

Watch Out New Haven!

That's right it's official. 1st United Connecticut Kickers will be making their WAKA debut in the CT-Ivy division in New Haven this spring. The 18 person roster has 10 returning 1uckers and adds 4 Hartford kickball veterans as well as 4 kickball rookies destined to be the top contendors for the division's rookie of the year award. 1/3 of the team were in attendance this past Sunday for the first pick up games of the season and made their presence known (mostly cause they were loud and talked alot). The future is uncertain, but one thing is for sure. Sundays in New Haven will be a whole lot of 1UCKing fun.

SFKO results

Game 1: M2S 5 1UCK 1 - The game started out with lead-off kicker James first ever game of kickball by getting on base and scoring right off the bat. Unfortunately some miscue's by the defense allowed M2S to get out to a 3-1 lead by the end of the 1st inning. In the top of the 4th and down by 4, 1UCK were able to get runners into scoring position with no outs, but the ball bounced to where M2S were able to prevent runs from scoring. MVP James "Guerinteed"

Game 2: 1UCK 6 St Augustine 1 - 1st United Connecticut Kickers came out of their bye firing on all cylinder's scoring 3 runs to start the game off. 1UCK's defense held strong against the kick away style of St. Augustine and a 3 run home run by clean up kicker Kyle put the game away for the team. MVP Kyle "I break shot glasses with my hand."

Game 3: Banger's & Dash 4 1UCK 1 - Banger's and Dash possibly had the best combination of pitcher and catcher that 1UCK played all day. Despite the potent top of the line up of B&D, 1UCK was able to hold them to 1 run at the top of the 1st and did a great job of damage control when there were a few occasions where the game could have been busted wide open were it not for 1st United players making some key defensive stops. MVP Chris "Pittsburgher"

Game 4: Dumpster Fire 2 1UCK 0 - Once again is was 1UCK's defense that earns the team praise holding DF's explosive offense to only 2 runs through out 5 innings. Defense played almost flawlessly against a very strong and the offense did the best they could against one of the strongest defensive teams in the country. MVP Phil "Lt. Dan"

Game 5: 1UCK 8 America's Backyard 1 - After being eliminated from the tournament, 1UCK took on the team form official after party bar in a scrimmage. America's Backyard's team came out strong drawing first blood. It wouldn't be til several innings later where some well placed kicks by the 1UCK squad that started a 5 run rally that put the victory in 1UCK's name. MVP Awkward Zak

Who will F.U.C.K. face?

We are now 9 days away from 1st United Connecticut Kickers debut at the South Florida Kickball Open and the pools have been announced. F.U.C.K. will be facing Menace 2 Sobriety from Washington DC, Dumpster Fire from NYC, Bangers & Dash from sunny Fort Lauderdale, and the mysterious team known only as St. Augustine Team. After some initial scouting here's a bit of info on what F.U.C.K. faces.

Menace 2 Sobriety - Despite people hinting that M2S is bringing an "availables" they are bringing a pretty strong defense to South Florida. This teams back up pitcher/catcher/charger combo is good enough to effectively shut down most teams they will be faceing On the offensive side of the ball, this team has too many weapons that have to be shut down to keep it close enough for the rest of the pool to have a shot of beating them. They've been doing this for years and will be the most disciplined team in this pool (and probably at the whole tourney). F.U.C.K.'s best chance of beating them is if they face them early in the day since the recent snow in DC has prevented much of the team from playing/practicing.
p.s. They are the SFKO defending champs, and several members of their roster were also on The Others team who recently won the Founder's Cup.

Dumpster Fire - If you believe what their captain has been saying for the past month this is more like Dumpster Fire Lite. Well DF Lite is still a pretty formidable squad. I mean, yes only a handful of the NY Star championship team are on the tournament roster, but none of those people are exactly slouches. Offensively they still have a whole lot of speed and people who can kick the crap out of the ball, while on defense you still have one of the best catchers playing today behind the plate. F.U.C.K. really only has a shot if DF is tired after some hard fought pool play games.
p.s. They were undefeated in their last season of play and won the New York Grand National Tournament last August.

Bangers & Dash - From what I can tell, this team is made up of a fair number of support players, but none that have really been stand outs for any of their teams. Nothing against them or their abilities, but few if any are the first people that come to mind when you think of No Yes Butt, Partially Screwed, Young Guns, Tricky Bunnies, or JKI. By no means am I saying this is not a solid squad, but with some of the teams they will face they might find themselves missing that MVP player to put them over the top. Out of all the pool teams, this one may match up with F.U.C.K. most evenly.
p.s. I'm still not postitive that such an MVP player isn't on their roster and I just don't know about it yet. They have at least 1 memeber of 2007 Founder's Cup runner up Fiasco United and may have more and/or players from that years FC champions Drinkers With A Kicking Problem

St. Augustine Team - I know the city of St. Augustine is like a 50 minute drive to the closest WAKA division (Jacksonvile). Probably shouldn't sleep on them since they may have played against Cobra Kai and have some expereince with the competative game, but I wouldn't count on them being much of a threat considering the caliber of teams they'll be faceing. How F.U.C.K. will fair against them is a mystery.
p.s. I have no p.s. for this team.
